Q. How can I use the University Libraries if I'm not a current student or employee?
If you are an alumnus or not currently enrolled in/working for the University of Memphis, you are considered a Community User at the University Libraries.
The Ned R. McWherter Library is open to the public. Many workshops, lectures, and other events are free and open to the public. Displays and exhibits are always free and open to the public.
If you're not a current student or employee at the University of Memphis, you are considered a Community User at the University Libraries and will need to apply for/receive a Community Special Privilege Registration card. This card will allow you to:
borrow books. Community Users can check out up to 10 books for 30 days.
be logged onto a community user computer to check email and search Libraries databases. There are no printing privileges.
