EBSCO Migration Information
On December 16, 2024, EBSCOhost (the platform for many of our library databases) will migrate to a new user interface, and access to the "classic" EBSCO interface, including classic MyEBSCO accounts, will no longer be available to users. Some saved items in classic-interface MyEBSCO folders will not transfer to the new EBSCO interface and will no longer be accessible as of December 16. To avoid losing access to saved content, you have the option of transferring content manually before the migration date, or contacting the Libraries for help with content recovery after the migration date. For more details, please review the following.
MyEBSCO & My Dashboard Explained
MyEBSCO refers to a user's personal EBSCO account in both the old and new interfaces. This account and its associated login is separate from your UUID and password and must be created by you as the user. A personal MyEBSCO account is not required to use the Libraries' EBSCO databases, but it is useful for saving resources that you discover while using those databases. For more information on MyEBSCO accounts, visit this article on EBSCO Connect:
https://connect.ebsco.com/s/article/How-to-Create-and-Manage-a-My-EBSCOhost-Account?language=en_US
My Dashboard is a feature of the new EBSCO interface that is tied to your MyEBSCO login. It functions similarly to the MyEBSCO account in the classic interface. For more information on My Dashboard, visit this article on EBSCO Connect:

Pay special attention to the following FAQs:
Q. Which of my saved MyEBSCO [old interface] folder items are available in My Dashboard [new interface]?
Items of the following type that were saved to the general "My Folder" area of MyEBSCO (i.e. not in custom folders) can also be viewed in My Dashboard when logged in with your personal credentials.
- Articles
- Images
- Videos
- eBooks
- eBook Holds
- eBook Checkouts
Q. Which of my saved MyEBSCO [old interface] folder items will NOT be transferred to My Dashboard in the new interfaces?
Any items saved to custom or shared folders, in addition to the following items in your general MyEBSCO folder, are not available in My Dashboard.
- Companies
- Webpages
- Journal Alerts
- Search Alerts
- Persistent Link to Searches
- Notes
- Pages
- Other content sources
How to Save Your Content
The following sections explain how to transfer your content from the classic MyEBSCO interface to the new My Dashboard interface.
After December 16, 2024 (with EBSCO/Libraries Help)
Contact the Libraries
Please contact lib_erm@memphis.edu for help recovering MyEBSCO content from the classic interface.
Automatic Transfer of Saved Searches (January 2025)
EBSCO has announced on their New UI Roadmap that "all active personal users will incur a migration of their saved searches, ensuring those users can view and manage these saved searches alongside those which were saved within the new UI."
This feature is scheduled to be released in January 2025, which is one month after UofM's scheduled migration to the new interface, so custom folders will be temporarily unavailable if you choose to wait.
Automatic Transfer of Content in Custom Folders (April 2025)
EBSCO has announced on their New UI Roadmap that "download options [for custom folders] will be presented to personalized users on the new user interface allowing them to replicate their folder structure in Classic without losing their data."
This feature is scheduled to be released in April 2025, which is several months after UofM's scheduled migration to the new interface, so custom folders will be temporarily unavailable if you choose to wait.
Before December 16, 2024 (Manual Transfer)
Transferring Content in Custom/Shared Folders to My Dashboard in the New EBSCO Interface
- To access MyEBSCO in the old interface, visit any of the many databases on EBSCOhost, e.g., Academic Search Ultimate.
- Click Sign In in the upper right menu
- Sign in with your personal MyEBSCO credentials (these are distinct from your UofM UUID and password)
- Click on Folder in the upper right menu
- Open a custom or shared folder under My Custom or Shared By in the left-hand menu
- Select All articles in the folder and click Copy To> or Move To>My Folder
- These articles have now been moved from a custom/shared folder to your main folder, which you can access in the new EBSCO interface by going to the EBSCO homepage then clicking My Dashboard>Saved on the left-hand menu, or by visiting this link: https://research.ebsco.com/c/mpi5zk/dashboard/saved/records. You may need to log into your MyEBSCO account again in the new interface.
- To reproduce your custom folder in the new EBSCO interface in My Dashboard, you can create a Project by going to My Dashboard>Projects in the left-hand menu then clicking the plus sign to make a new project
- Name your project and click Create
- Go back to My Dashboard>Saved to retrieve your transferred articles
- Click the three-dot menu next to an article you wish to add to the project, and click Add to project (note that you can only add one article at a time)
- The article will now appear in your Project
- Repeat this with other articles and custom/shared folders as needed
Transferring Journal Alerts and Search Alerts to My Dashboard in the new EBSCO interface
Journal Alerts and Search Alerts cannot be transferred from the old to new EBSCO interfaces and must be recreated by hand. Visit these pages on EBSCO Connect for instructions on creating alerts in the new interface:
- Creating and Managing Journal Alerts in the New EBSCO User Interfaces
- Creating and Managing Search Alerts in the New EBSCO User Interfaces
Transferring Saved Searches to My Dashboard in the new EBSCO interface
Saved Searches are scheduled to migrate automatically from the old to new EBSCO interface in January 2025. You can also recreate or add new saved searches by hand. Visit these pages on EBSCO Connect for instructions on saving searches in the new interface:
- Saving Searches in the New EBSCO User Interfaces
- Using the Bookmark Feature in the New EBSCO Interfaces
- Using the Dashboard in the New EBSCO Interfaces
Other Saved Items That Will Not Transfer
Please note that the following saved items in MyEBSCO also will not transfer to the new interface. You may need to search for them in the new interface and re-save them by hand:
- Companies
- Webpages
- Persistent Link to Searches
- Notes
- Pages
- Other content sources
